  • Oversees all financial functions including accounting, treasury, tax, credit/collections, audit, risk management, budgeting and investor relations.
  • Acts as business partner to the President/CEO to evaluate and establish Agency financial strategies, investment activities, portfolio management and budget process.
    • Communicate daily regarding current cash flow, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
    • Report Agency performance versus budget on a regular basis.
    • Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of potential partnerships and current business arrangements and future opportunities.
  • Collaborate and educate Program Directors regarding budget (i.e. cost centers, funding opportunities, grant reporting).
    • Distribute and review month end budget reports.
    • Identify and help develop a plan to address areas in need of improvement.
  • Participates in, and presents financial status of Agency to Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
  • Oversee preparation and ensure timely and accurate release of financial reports and other communication and correspondence delivered from the finance department.
    • Comply with department and Agency deadlines (i.e. month end, year end).
  • Provide support and assistance to the agency and agency personnel in all aspects of fiscal administration.
  • Work with Staff Accountant to establish and oversee accounting procedures and internal controls for asset and liability accounts, revenue and expense accounts, and fund accounts to ensure compliance with accounting standards and operating procedures.
  • Support finance team by hiring, training and retaining staff.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, FASB and other regulatory requirements. Complies with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
  • Ensure Agency is sufficiently prepared for successful audits.
  • Maintain professional partnerships with internal and external partners (i.e. Board, financial institutions, auditors, vendors, contractors and outside Agencies).
  • Ensure confidentiality with all information; as well as the security and safety of all documents/checks.
  • Ensure the safety of all staff, volunteers, visitors and individuals receiving services at the organization.
    • Act in compliance with Medical and Non-Medical Emergency Procedures.
    • Assist individuals in evacuating building during emergency situations to include but not limited to: fire drills and external disaster drills. Specific duties to be assigned by immediate supervisor.
    • Assume assigned responsibility for non-clinical duties during disaster and/or drills including but not limited to safety of files/office areas,closure of doors.
  • Work a flexible schedule as required (i.e. month end closing, Board meetings).
  • Participate in continuous agency wide quality and performance improvement and comply with all Quality Improvement requirements.
  • Other related duties as necessary to ensure the smooth running and efficiency of the organization- South Florida as a whole.
  • CPA with 10 years of job related experience; a minimum of 5 years in senior management.
  • Working knowledge of governmental accounting practices and procedures, fund accounting and fiscal management. Demonstrated ability to comprehend and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines.
  • Excellent leadership skills, strategic discipline, interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to communicate well with diverse populations.
  • Customer service-oriented, strong organization, time management, attention to detail and follow up skills.
  • High level of accuracy and analytical skills.
